Main & Front Streets Rising Sun, IN 47040

Set in the City’s historic downtown and along the scenic banks of the mighty Ohio River, the Navy Bean Festival is filled with great food including the signature Navy Bean Soup and homemade cornbread. For the perfect small town festival just add rides & games, live music, a parade, and even more Navy Bean Soup. (Yes…it’s THAT good!)

The Navy Bean Fall Festival Committee will present the 29nd annual Rising Sun Navy Bean Fall Festival Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8, 2016. Of course, the highlight of the festival is the delicious, steaming, homemade navy bean soup and cornbread served under the “bean soup tent”.  A new event added to the festival this year will be a “Slash In” involving several sea planes that provide plane rides & scenic views of the Ohio River.

We would like to invite you to participate in the festival parade on Saturday, October 8th at 10:30 am. If you would like to compete for the prizes to be awarded this year, please indicate on the application and enclose a minimum $5.00 entry fee or donation of your choosing. We will have three different categories that you can choose to enter. The Grand Bean Award for the Best Overall Float Presentation with first prize of $250, second prize of $150 and third of $50, the Grand Beaney Award for Best Float Presentation by Youth Group with first prize of $150, second prize of $100 and third prize of $50 and the Just for Fun award will be given to the Most Entertaining Parade Entry with a prize of $100. Note judging will begin at 9:30 am. Entries to be judged must be lined up by 9:00 am.

Attached are the parade application as well as rules and guidelines. Note Parade line-up is the same as last year.  Parade entries will line up at Rising Star Casino in parking lot next to the new hotel. Horses will line up on corner of Industrial Dr. & Rising Star Dr.

This year's festival will once again feature rides by Murray Bros. Shows. There will be a variety of live music. Main acts are Jason Owen Band, The Danny Frazier Band Friday night and The Menus & The Rusty Griswolds on Saturday night and several other fun-filled stage shows and events for the whole family. The festival will, of course, include bean soup and lots of other good food, pageants, craft and vendor booths.  The festival continues to grow and has become a homecoming community event where families gather to enjoy the fall season on the riverbank and have lots of fun.

For parade information, please contact Sue Scalf at 812-584-1695 or Fax 812-438-2755.
